'Iolani Palace's Main Entrance
was restored to its 1886-1893 condition in the 1970s. Repairs have been integrated into the original structure without damaging the historical integrity of the Palace. Italianate architecture is well known for its romantic, lavish style and rich design details. Lanais (portico) surrounding the palace are embellished with decorative brackets, motifs, cornice moldings above a frieze, and floral designs.
