Albatross' chicks appear around February / March at Ka'ena Point. I walked the very long path to the Point - it's so worth the energy, it's getting back carrying camera equipment that's the hard part.

The images below were shot last year (2008) and this year (2009). Ka'ena Point is a State Preserve and there are ropes to keep people out of the nesting area, so it's difficult to get any close-up shots, and I my 500mm lens is to heavy to carry.
