Triple Crown of Surfing~ Reef Hawaiian Pro, Haleiwa, Nov. 12-23; O'Neill World Cup of Surfing, Sunset Beach, Nov. 24-Dec. 6; Billabong Pipeline Masters, Banzai Pipeline, Dec. 8-20.

2009 qualifiers through the WQS:
The following QS surfers have all qualified for the 2009 World Tour (WT): Nathaniel Curran (USA), Chris Davidson (AUS), Michel Bourez (PYF), Gabe Kling (USA), Jihad Khodr (BRA), Josh Kerr (AUS), Nic Muscroft (AUS), David Weare (ZAF), Kekoa Bacalso (HAW), Tim Boal (FRA), Greg Emslie (ZAF), Dustin Barca (HAW), Tiago Pires (BRA), Phillip MacDonald (AUS), and Drew Courtney (AUS). Depending on Tiago Pires’ performance at the Billabong Pipeline Masters, Marlon Lipke (DEU) may qualify for the 2009 World Tour.

O'Neill Triple Crown of Surfing, Sunset Beach, 2009

Pipeline, Monster Energy Pipeline Pro, January, 2007 : HONOLULU (Friday, February 9, 2007) - North Shore resident Jamie O'Brien won his second Monster Energy Pro, presented by Billabong, title at the Banzai Pipeline today. Finding form in the toughest conditions of the event, the 23-year-old bolted out of the gates to establish a lead that served him well the duration of the 30-minute final, earning $10,000, a Makita Power Tools pack, a Kicker stereo and a set of KMC wheels. Runner-up was Australian darkhorse Mark Mathews ($5,000), third was defending champion Rob Machado (Cardiff, CA - $3,000), and fourth was Kauai rookie Gavin Gillette ($2,400). Conditions ranged throughout the day from clean six-to-eight feet in the morning, to a ravaging 10-foot mix of swell directions by the semi-finals and final.

Ali'i Beach, Reef Hawaiian Pro, Nov.12-23, 2008 : Reef Hawaii Surf Contest 2008.

The first Triple Crown event was completed last week at Hale'iwa Ali'i Beach. Tahiti's Michel Bourez won the men's contest, and Honolulu's Carissa Moore won the women's contest.

The shots of surfers were taken after the surf contest on a cloudy, hazy afternoon - very grainy, but nice waves.

Time for the Triple Crown of Surfing~ Reef Hawaiian Pro, Haleiwa, Nov. 12-23; O'Neill World Cup of Surfing, Sunset Beach, Nov. 24-Dec. 6; Billabong Pipeline Masters, Banzai Pipeline, Dec. 8-20.

Ali'i Beach, Reef Hawaiian Pro, Nov.12-23, 2008

Ali'i Beach, Menehune Surfing Contest, Sunday, Oct. 19th : These photos were taken between 9am - 2pm. Each photo has date/time.

If you order a print, there will be a slight delay. Each print ordered will be 'tweaked' for color/light/dark qualities. Can't do much about part of the day being grey and overcast, making the water look grey since the water is mostly a reflection of the sky.

If you're NOT on a Mac, all photos in my Gallery's and Blogs appear darker than how I see them. Don't know why, it's just how it is.

The images start with a few Saturday morning the 10th, when the contest was canceled. Then Sunday morning only, surfers just having fun. I returned for the contest on Sunday, the 18th, but only stayed from 10am - 2pm. Yes, I wish I had a faster lens, one day . .
Probably easiest to look at all these is by turning on 'Slideshow' in 'Style:'
