Kaena Challenge Canoe Race Sunday Aug 10, 2008 Makaha Canoe Club’s Kaena Challenge Canoe Race was held on Sunday August 10, 2008, 9am. Starting at Sunset Beach, Oahu and finishing at Yokohama Bay (21 miles)(waves permitting) or finish at Makaha Beach (27 miles). The first 18 miles are very fast if tradewinds are up with the start immediately in the wind line at Sunset Beach. Short course will be from finish of long course to Makaha Beach. OC-1s will also race the long course starting a few minutes after the six man canoes start. It will be interesting to see how OC-1s will compete against OC-6s various men’s women and mixed divisions.
